Calypsonians ready for Fantastic Friday

Fantastic FridayHundreds of persons are expected to gather at Carnival City, Victoria Park tonight, as 22 Calypsonians vie for a place in the 2016 Calypso finals which will be held on Sunday July 3rd.
Fantastic Friday/ Calypso semi-Finals kicks off at 8 p.m. and at the end, ten singers will be chosen to come up against the 2015 monarch Zamfir 'Man Zangie' Adams.

Taking part tonight and the songs they will sing are, from The Upstage Experience Calypso Tent, Shernelle 'Skarpyon' Williams with 'Call from Miss Lou', Shaunelle Mc Kenzie with 'Purify My Land', Ronald 'Ron B' Browne with 'Progress', Jerome 'Parry' Samuel with 'Step up or Step out', Cleopatra 'Cleopatra' Hendrickson will do 'Love and Respect', Brian 'Sprinter' John will give you 'Citizen' and Fitzroy 'Bro Ebony' Joseph will do 'Love in the Kaiso'.

From the Dynamites Calypso Tent, Primadonna Bascombe will do 'Crisis', Joel 'Navel String' Bartholomew will do 'Power Hungry', Dennis Bowman will perform a song called 'Take care of SVG' and John 'The Truth' Dougan will ask for 'Togetherness'
From the Graduates Calypso Tent, Glenroy 'Sulle' Caesar hopes to 'Upgrade', Chewalee Johnson will tell about 'Sue Sue Hand', Glenroy 'Homey' Delpesche is 'Dangerous Grounds', Kingsley 'Hero' Roberts will present 'Fourth Test' and Maxwell 'Tajoe' Francis will pay 'Tribute to Mama'.

From the On Tour Calypso Tent, Ronald 'Chico B' Cato has 'Rum Pie', Grantley 'Ipa' Constance will show us the 'Road to Parliament', Elvis 'Abijah' Abbey will perform 'E Hut Me, Kenneth 'Vibrating Scakes' Alleyne will hold a 'Revolution', Robert 'Patches' King will sing 'Labour Love' and Wendell 'Speeshie' Goodrich will ask 'Who to Blame'.
In reserves are Vivian 'I Come' Miller and Carlos David 'Chang I' Morgan.
President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Calypso Association (SVGCA) Earl 'Caba' Bennett said that former monarchs Abijah, Skarpyon, Tajoe and Ipa who each has one win and Sulle and Scakes who have multiple titles are looking to add to their trophy cabinet.

"The important thing for this season is that we have a wide variety of songs, we have persons singing across the political spectrum, we have upbeat songs, we have up-lifting songs, we have well-crafted songs…with that package how can you lose, how can anyone afford to Miss Fantastic Friday?"
