This year, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Calypso Association (SVGCA) will hold for the first time ever, a competition designed to reward humorous songs.
President of the SVGCA Earl 'Caba' Bennett said this week that seeing that prizes are limited and a lot of Calypsonians see being picked as a semi-finalists as their only reward, the SVGTA decided to reward more Calypsonians by introducing, "the most humorous calypso and the most popular calypso competitions".
He added, "Initially we had planned to do it in the tents but that fell through so we are going to use the media and avenues like Facebook and radio to facilitate these competitions".
The songs up for the prize so far are "Behind closed doors" by William 'Kojah' Anthony, Brother Ebony's "Love in the Kaiso", Chico B's "Rum Pie" and Marshie's "Exchange donkey for car".
